Alternative Mexican fashion brand Malafacha recently made a presentation of its 2013 Spring-Summer collection in my hometown, as a benefit for the city’s Integral Family Development program. The creative minds behind Malafacha are designers Francisco Saldaña & Víctor Hernal, who were looking for a representation of “forward thinking Mexican urban fashion” when they created the brand, “the fashion buzzword for young alternative consumers.” Youkali would be their fourteenth collection; urban, androgynous and as they love to be called, different.
Malafacha has enjoyed non-stop success and worldwide recognition since they were named outstanding upcoming designers at the 2006 Fashion Week Mexico. Their work has been featured in high fashion magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Elle, among others.
The show was opened with the exquisite designs of local fashion designer Ale Soria. Her collection for Fall-Winter 2013 was full of unexpected pastels and flower details (which I happened to love ;)). Lots of lace, full skirs, shirts and peplum. Pretty!
Periódico Expreso (where I work at) was one of the proud sponsors, so here’s us, making an appearance! It was pretty much a casual evening so I chose a comfy outfit.

Lo has been absent for the past few months and wants to apologize. My life gave a huge 180° turn (if that is even possible!) the last four months and it’s been hard to keep on track with my posts! Left beautiful San Francisco and moved back home to Mexico and had a hard time settling in. But when one has a positive attitude towards life and a good support system, everything turns back to positive in no time, and a month ago, I found an amazing job as the head of marketing for a local newspaper, and I continued to collaborate on the side with my old job.
And as if getting back to a stable job in media and freelancing for magazines wasn’t good enough, a great guy appeared in my life and everything just clicked. I’m extremely happy growing professionally, surrounded with my closest friends on the side, and a cute guy by my side like a cherry on top! The only downside? No time for getLoWorld!
Once things at work calm down a little at work (October, November, and December are the busiest months, event-wise) I will have much more time to dedicate to this personal project of mine that I love so much. I do promise to post as much as possible, even during lunch breaks. 😉
Right now I leave you with some of my fashion styling work I’ve been doing for Be Live Magazine, which you should definitely check out! Also, don’t forget to follow me on Twitter and on my Facebook Page!
Super new from the designer that makes some of the world’s most coveted flats. The Chelsea Ballet Flat‘s name was inspired by New York City’s own art mecca. This is a comfy slip-on shoe for non-fussy girls that still like to make their uncomplicated look as chic as possible. The ballet flat is made of super soft leather with a grosgrain ribbon trim and a cute golden medallion next to the ribbon, that shows Tory Burch‘s logo. This is as close as you can get to a ballet slipper, but with much more support on the sole.
Very comfortable, feminine and chic. Comes in Scarlet Red, Sunglow, Persian Blue, Jade, and of course, Black. Which one is your fave?
